Dubai is one of the most wonderful and vibrant city state in UAE. You can see people of different colour, caste and creed walking along side by side. A nigro face from Africa, mongol face from China or white face from Great Britain one can find all of them here working together. It is a very lovely place with multy-colour combination.
Being a sales man in a jewellery company, I have more opportunity and advantage to meet different types of people. From princess to pretenders and rich to rags, I take chance to chit-chat while dealing with them. Some customer, you will find so rich which you and I can never be. Some pretends to be rich yet behaviour shows poverty striken . Some you will find intolerably arrongant. Some are too good to be human.
One hazy morning, as I sit lost in my thought and gazing outside, a customer enters the shop. After exchanging some formal greetings,he strolls around the counters checking jewelleries.I scan him from head to toe.He has a long blonde hair. His English with Arabic accent makes him unique to indentify as an Arabic speaking person. He must be either Lebanese or Syrian or could be Palestenian. He is very good looking. As he proceeds to select jewellery items he keeps his packect of cigerette and bunch of car keys on the counter. Meanwhile, a mobile ringtone fills the shop. He takes out latest version of cellphone from his back pocket and attends the call. You can see three Cs :Car-keys, cigiratte and cellphone on dislplay which is the symbol of modern dubai. The most expensive car, high tech mobile and lungs full of cigirattes seem the passion for everyone.
When it comes puffing up cigiratte the women are also no less than men.You can see them busy puffing up cigarettes while cellphone attached to their ears. But at the end of the day, the cigarette culture is not good for health and surroundings I guess.

My visa has arrived after a long wait. I am going to work as a sales officer in Dubai at Jewelery shop. So, I dicided to celebrate with my best friends last night. Dipak is always with me. He is my best man. He was with me when I was depressed. He was with me when we did fun. Now he was with me yesterday in Kathmandu offering me various kinds of drinks. And Kiran was also with me. He has recently come from Lakhnow but he is my best man as well. We reached at Thamel around 6 in the evening. Kathmandu has very chilled climate these days. First Dep brought a small bottle of Whisky to drive away cold. We shared some sips as first punch. Sandesh who is a thin an lean boy was also accompanying us though he doesn’t have habbit of drinking hard drinks. If I am not sure whether it was his first day to celebrate with guys like us. After emptying small bottle of Royal stag whisky, Dep brought half bottle of Khukuri Rum famous in Nepal and notorious for its strength. We drank with caramel popcorn. Sweet popcorn and Rum is good for brain Dep was telling us as I have never tried before. He also brought a bottle of olive to swallow with Rum. After taking nearly 500 ml of hard alcohol, chilled december winter in Kathmandu was getting hotter for us. It was getting dark so it was time for dinner. We decided to go for some hot Indian cousine. Deep was behind us.As we were in hurry for toilet we left him in a street vendor’s shop where he was enjoying momos. I came out of restaurant to join Dep as Kiran and Sandesh were busy pronouncing the names of dishes from the menu. I found Dep inside supermarket buying a bottle of French wine. As we arrived on the table of restaurant, we found ourselves surrounded with varities of dishes. Dep uncorked the bottle of wine as a dessert after finishing meal.Ok, we all were loaded by now from head to toe. Then Dep produced a cigar as a token of love for me. As it has been a year since I quit cigerette, I couldn’t resist it because I had never tried this one. Well it was fun indeed when I was chocked by blue smoke. Then Kiran proposed us to go to dance bar. There he ordered two bottles of beer. I was constantly smiling as my head was getting confused. In the meantime, my wife who is in Honkong, called me. I told her what was happening to us. And she laughed heartily. Ok guys but it was really cool to get drunk with varieties of drinks. We took whisky, rum, wine, beers and at last dep said let’s go for a last vodka. Oh, It was now 1 am in the morning and I was lying at the backseat of taxi. when I woke up I found myself at the front gate of casino in hotel Annapurna Dep was pressing hard at the counter to let us in. But they din’t allow us as we couldn’t produce sufficient amount of money. Dep drove us home. And I woke up in the morning with terrible headache. Good bye Kathamandu. See u next year.
Thank you Dep, Kiran and Sandesh.

I go every morning for jogging uphill towards mudhkhu. It is daily routine. The road climbs with gentle slop up to the Mudkhu pass at the northen part of Kathmandu valley. It was chilled winter morning last year. One could see layer of frosts everywhere on the ground. My friend Mandal,Amar and Pusp were also jogging together with me on that day.We were running up hill.I was perspiring hard and so were my friends.Mandal had arrived recently from Lukhnow so he was bit unware about the situation here in Nepal. He had seen the rigourous checking on the highway heard numerous deaths and sabotages by security personnel and moists but didn’t have much idea how to respond to them.Seeing morning so clear with snow peaks on the northen horizen and forest with sunrise, once he had proposed us to shout aloud with delight. But we all denied telling the situatian is not good. On that day,we were carrying bags with empty bottles to bring water while returning from Mudkhu. There is a small stream near Mudkhu which is an extra source of water for thirsty Kathmanduits. As we reached on the top of the hill borther Amar proposed us to have tea by the roadside. We all agreed. We had to cross the check-post to go to tea shop.we were carrying bags and jogging slowly. As we know empty vessels make much noise, the empty bottles inside our bags were producing rushling noise .One of the security personels who was busy preparing tobacco and was unaware about our presence suddenly grasped his sub-machine gun which was hanging on his right shoulder hearing rushling sound nearby and nearly pulled the trigger.Mandal was in the front line.He was there amazed and motionless with that sudden reaction. One move and he would pull the tringger. But it was by great luck he didn’t pull.Had he not lifted his head to stare us coldly then we would be dead man with headlines reading “Terrorists have been shot dead”.A boy who came from Lukhnow and wanted to shout full throat seeing beautiful scenary in the highland was silent.
This december when Amar and pusp have already left for Dubai to work as sales assitants in Emarat petrolium company, again Mandal and I decided to make one last jog together towards Mudhkhu before his visit to Singapore for further studies. This december is quite cold. Seems winter has approached early this year.We slowly started to run uphill talking about his future plan.Since things have changed so much after the April revolution in Nepal, we were at great ease. After climbing long slope, we arrived at the Mudhkhu pass where last year we were nearly shot dead. Mandal looked at me as though he was groping for words to say something. After sometime he smiled broadly as there was no security personnel and barriers. And he patted me.It was really beautiful morning with freedom. Freedom from fear and distrust freedom from tears and toils. April revolution has become as tall as Mt. Everest giving delight to every Nepali. Hurray!!!!!!
Miss you Amar dada, Pusp , Mandal and Deep and all those pals who shared love with me in the room. Thank you all.
